About the Northern Lights District

Northern Lights District "A District In Motion" Logo

The Northern Lights District was known as Chester Road, during the late ‘70s and early ‘80s and served as Greater Cincinnati’s first Entertainment District.  The corridor was lined with hotels, restaurants, and night clubs.  In the late ’80s, the Emperor’s Wok location was acquired to build the Sharonville Convention Center.

Over the years, the Northern Lights District has continued to adapt and evolve to meet the needs of the city and the surrounding region.

Just recently, the Sharonville Convention Center, completed a $24 million dollar expansion.

The recently renovated multi-level facility features nineteen meeting rooms and state-of-the-art amenities. The features of the new center include:

  • 40,000 square foot Exhibit Hall
  • A beautiful 14,000 square foot Ballroom
  • 8,200 square foot Junior Ballroom comprised of three rooms
  • 7,400 square foot bank of meeting space divisible by 5
  • 6,300 square foot bank of meeting space divisible by 4
  • 3 additional break-out rooms
  • New technologies including electronic signage, message boards, complimentary wi-fi and an innovative projection wall at the entrance to welcome your guests
  • Built-in registration areas and ticket counters
  • Wheelchair Accessible

The District is home to numerous hotels and other hospitality and entertainment related businesses such as the award winning Third Eye Brewing Company that complement the convention center's events, meetings, and major trade shows. It is also home to Princeton High School in addition to several prominent commercial office buildings.

Redevelopment opportunities, buildings and land, including sites owned by the city's Community Improvement Corporation are for sale or lease. Zoned General Business (GB), restaurants, retail, and mixed use developments that include multifamily units are desired.
